Nibong Tebal, Penang Perodua Service Center(Alza 1000km Service)

Nibong Tebal, Penang Perodua Service Center(Alza 1000km Service)

Very fast service, I was in and out within 40 min, for the First 1000km service. Fast, and that includes fixing a buzzer for the alarm. Of course, I think I came in at the off peak time, Monday 2pm, and if not mistaken there were only 2 cars in house. :-)

The Friendly Service Staffs when through what is suppose to be done, and straight away send the car straight in to the service area. Total cost came up to RM146.85 for engine oil, auto transmission oil, batteries terminals, windshield shampoo, Drain Plug Gasket, oil filter, and they even give me a RM10/- discount voucher for my next trip. Below are some of my comments.

Customer Lounge

I went to the Air Con Customer Lounge and was impress with the facilities there, Toilet, Nice comfortable Sofa Set facing a 32 in LCD TV, Wifi (did not test), Children play area, (but did not see any toys) floor to ceiling glass overlooking the servicing area, ice water, warm water, coffee, tea, biscuit, even a basket of mandarin orange (though the manager better check how fresh are the oranges), accessories display, even instant mee in cup (though it’s a bit hidden) in a nice 4 star hotel lobby environment. (the only thing I can think to improve is to provide plug points for Lap tops)

Alza Accessories

Saw the flyer on the Alza Accessories, not much there, not like the Myvi accessories. They show the auto headlamp, auto wiper which I was interested in but no price was shown, so I ask the staffs, they refered me to the Manager who “sleepishly” said they do not sell this any more. Looks like I have to check with other service center.

Comments for Perodua

Pro

  • · Service was fast but then, did all the checks took place? Especially it’s the first service…..
  • · Very Nice Customer Lounge

Cons

  • · They took away my credit card and swipe it at another location out of my sight. - that is not correct.
  • · No Auto Headlight and Wiper Sensor, when indicated available in the Alza Accessories Flyer.

General Comments:

The Battery terminal protector does not cost much. So if it’s so important for us to install it why did Perodua left it out in the first place? Same goes for the Windshield Shampoo, if its important enough for it to be I the Windshield reservoir. It should already be there when we get the new car, and when we go for service, it time to top up. This 2 items does not cost much actually, but where create a negative impression (Hard sell) on the customer?

Best Tosai in Penang by @snapshots

New Location GPS Cordinates N 05, 10, 243 E 100, 28, 329!

Its sad when some thing heritage have to be demolish in name of progress. The Old Heritage building of Nibong Tebal Railway Station was recently demolish in name of progress for the Double Tracking Process, with it the Best Tosia in Penang th Famous NT Railway Station Tosia is no more.

However the owner of the stall have decided to set up shop after a two weeks break, (thank god, my stomach was asking for a tosai), at the above coordinates, for those with out GPS, its not hard, Its located near the Nibong Tebal St Anthony Church (corner of Jalan Victoria)

As you enter NT town, after the first traffic light, after Maybank, at the T Junction, turn right, go straight for around half a km its a corner terrace house on your left.

The Church.

The tosai is just as good, the place even more comfortable and cleaner, the shop is currently work in progress, he just have set up shop and making plans how to set up the place, He is getting a new group of customers (of church and market goers, NT Market is just a stone throw away), and that the old customers is slowly finding out that he is at this location, further it seem that there is a chinese newspaper report that he is missing after the railway station demolish! All the best for him at this new location.

He is currently operating from 7am till 2 pm daily, and have plans to add in more verity of food.

Good Eats at Swee Garden Restaurant at Nibong Tebal, Penang

Not too far away from the Famous Cheng Kee Restaurant of Nibong Tebal there is this hidden treasure of a restaurant that in my opinion as well as someothers is just about as good as Cheng Kee or if not better due to the crowd of patrons, come late at 8pm you may have to wait for a hour for your food. Swee Garden Restaurant is located just behind Maybank Nibong Tebal. GPS Location of Maybank is N 05.10.091 E 100.28.654.

Their three best dish here to me are the Thai Style Deep Fried Pork Leg, the Nibong Tebal Signature Dish, Too Boh sui, which translate out to be Boil Octopus and finally Lala (shell fish).

Thai Style Deep Fried Pork Leg

Reminds me of German Pork Leg except no musturd

Boil Octopus

People will drive all the way to Nibong Tebal for this dish!

Restaurant Tingkat Lima for Nibong Tebal Koey Teow Th’ng

@snapshots

GPS Coordinates N 05.10.520 E 100.28.588

This night eatery is in the ground floor of a 5 story building, hence it very imaginative name of Restaurant Five “Floors”. It is located at the Jalan Sg Daun area of Nibong Tebal Town, and is right at the Night Market “Street” every Sunday. I will usually have my dinner here just before walking it off at the Night Market which stretch around 500 meters

This Kopi Tiam offer a verity of food, however what good here is the Nibong Tebal Koey Teow which in my opinion is just about as good at the one in Nibong Tebal Town (link) which is only open during lunch time. Here and There is exactly the same with various pork spare parts, meat and skin, Yummy.

Next is the Hokkian Char KL Style, For this visit I am disappointed as the normal chilli is not serve, however the thick round rice noodles in darksauce with pork fat crotons, vegetables and meat did not disappoint . Frankly speaking you will be hard press to find this dish in Penang though its very common in KL. Asking for this dish in Penang will get you the Penang Style of Fried Hokkian Mee.

Char Koey Teow here is usually also not bad when compared with Penang. Not this trip though, Must be due to the New Year Season.

For those passing by on Sunday this is a excellent place to dine on some good food and to go for a walk, it’s the highlight of the week for the folks here anyway. For those who cannot make it for Lunch Koey Teow Th’ng you now have a second choice There is a Fun Fair going on next to the Kopi Tiam currently that why I am jumping que on my postings.

Nibong Tebal Koey Teow Th’ng

Coordinates: N 05.09.937 E100. 28.661

Koey Teow Th’ng when translated become Broad flat rice noodles in Soup, is a typical Chinese Dish found in many Coffee Shops, Street Stall around in Malaysia. You can usually find this dish for breakfast, lunch and tea, and in some place for dinner.

The Rice Noodles are Blanche in boiling water and is serve with a soup, accompanied with various boiled meats, innards or spare parts, seafood, vegetable. There is a version that the accompaniments are boiled together with the Noodles which make it a fresher and tastier dish.

This is the version that is served in Tick Kee Coffee Shop, and they do a good job here. Both of us had a Large bowl, which come at RM5.00 per bowl, but is full of pork meat, innards, prawns, breansprouts and the koey teow of course. It’s one of the best I have tasted, together with it's giant dish of chillies sauce. They do the Koey Teow here like how Beef Koey Teow Soup is serve. Close Monday, Open for Lunch Only.

This coffee shop is located along a narrow lane, Lorong Siong Right in the Middle of Nibong Tebal Town. It is advisable to park and walk in. Please see attach Map to the location for those without GPS and for those with GPS and with Malsingmap, look for Tick Kee Coffee Shop in the Point of Interest.
