Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat have announce that PPC Chairwoman Ms Tan Cheng Liang have propose for Water Taxi to ease congestion on Penang Island with potential stops at Butterworth, Weld Quay, Tanjung Tokong, Batu Ferringhi , according to what i read in The Star On line today.
This is good news indeed. Having stayed in Venice for a couple of days some 20+ years back, and having use Venice Water bus, to get around the city, this two in one suggestion (Less traffic congestion and it should become a icon and “a must do” for Penang Tourists) is a good one.
Imagine going down town from Batu Ferringi where most of the hotels are, via the water taxi, It will be a unique ride, a unique memory if it become reality. I hope to see it soon. More stops will be required and make it possible to travel a round the island as well.
In fact make it possible to take a water taxi from the Penang airport, or the Penang railway station directly to the hotels. Or for me from my Home in Tanjung Bungah, take a water taxi to Queensbay mall for some shopping. Make it happen, fast!
